10 Trimming Party
Costs
- Limit your guest list. The more kids you invite the higher the expense will be in cake, favors, and activities.
- Make the cake yourself. Decorate the top with a toy, i.e a tiara from Toys R Us for example.
- Keep the party at home or at a public park. When holding a party away from home, you will spend more money in food and games.
- Keep the decorations few and put them where they will have the most impact. If buying a few balloons, connect them to the chandelier over the birthday table. Use crepe paper to decorate the birthday child's chair. Decorate the front door. Have guests sign in on a big keepsake banner made out of white Kraft paper.
- Select a time that will not be around the lunch or dinner hours so you will not have to serve a meal.
- Hand make invitations and a poster for the door where visitors can sign in.
- Use your own stuff, such as plates, silverware, glasses, and napkins.
- Buy solid color paper ware, napkins, or cups. Buy paper bags for party favor bags. Buying solids instead of commercial patterns saves money.
- Select Party Favors with care. Choose one very nice party favor and than a couple of much smaller ones. Set a price you want to spend per child, i.e. $3 to $5, and STICK WITH IT!
- Use your imagination! Read up on the party books and be creative with your games and theme. What will make your party stand out is the thought you put into your party!
